Eliminés le mercredi 26 janvier lors des séances aux tirs au but par les pharaons d'Egypte en huitième de finale de la Can 2021 au Cameroun, les Eléphants de Côte d'Ivoire ont regagné Abidjan, tard dans la nuit du jeudi 27 janvier 2022.
La délégation des Eléphants footballeurs avec à sa tête le ministre Danho Paulin, parti pour la Can 2021 au Camerou, est arrivée à Abidjan.
Leur avion, un Air Côte d'Ivoire, a attéri sur le tarmac du Gatl à 22h50mn. ensuite le car des Elephants a quitté le Gatl à 23h 19mn pour prendre la direction de l'hôtel Radisson Blu.
Pour assurer la sécurité de cette importante délégation, des policiers du commissariat spécial de l'aeroport, de ceux du commissariat du 33è arrondissement ainsi que leurs collègues des Compagnies républicaines de sécurité (Crs) 2 et du Groupement mobile d'intervention (Gmi) ont été deployés. A ceux-là s'ajoutent des gendarmes issus du groupe de sécurité aéroportuaire (Gsa).
