Le développement de la région du lac Tchad était au centre des discussions lors d'une réunion à Yaoundé au Cameroun le lundi 17 janvier 2022.
Lors de cette rencontre présidée par le ministre camerounais de l'économie, de la planification et de l'aménagement du territoire, le comité national de pilotage du projet a examiné les dossiers concernant les actions à mettre en œuvre pour l'année 2022.
Le projet de relance et de développement de la zone du lac Tchad a été lancé il y a au moins dix mois. Les indicateurs économiques et de développement ne sont pas rassurants.
La région du lac Tchad que partagent quatre pays, notamment le Cameroun, le Niger, le Nigeria et le Tchad, reste donc une zone prioritaire d'engagement.
Les membres du comité de pilotage doivent trouver des stratégies pour insuffler une dynamique à ce projet financé par la Banque mondiale à hauteur de 36 milliards de FCFA.
A terme, ce projet devrait générer 80.000 empois directs et 300.000 indirects.
