Très bonne nouvelle pour la Côte d'Ivoire. Le pays accueillera bientôt, aux larges d'Abidjan, sur la lagune Ebrié, son tout premier Powership, une centrale thermique flottante montée sur un navire. Cette unité de production électrique utilisant le gaz naturel liquéfié (GNL) offre l'avantage d'être immédiatement opérationnelle alors qui faudra au mois 3 ans pour la construction d'une centrale thermique non flottante.
Prévue pour être installée sur le plan d'eau en face de la centrale thermique d'Azito, au nord de la capitale, la centrale flottante, la première du genre en Côte d'Ivoire, aura une capacité de 202 MW, a indiqué ce 26 janvier le gouvernement ivoirien qui a annoncé la signature d'une convention de fourniture de services avec un opérateur sans plus de précision.
Pour la Côte d'Ivoire qui a été confrontée à un délestage électrique au cours du premier semestre 2021, il s'agit d'une grande innovation qui viendra renforcer rapidement son offre énergétique actuellement évaluée à un peu plus de 2 200 MW.
