Dans un communiqué rendu public par la junte malienne lundi 24 janvier, Bamako a demandé au contingent danois déployé au sein de la force européenne Takuba au Mali de quitter pays.
Le gouvernement malien s'est dit surpris par le déploiement des troupes danoises dans le nord de Mali sans son consentement. Par conséquent, la réaction des autorités maliennes est sans équivoque et demande à « la partie danoise à retirer immédiatement ledit contingent du territoire malien ».
Le contingent danois déployé au Mali comprend une centaine d’hommes. Il se compose de médecins-militaires et soldats d'élites. Il est basé au Nord du Mali à Ménaka, dans la zone dite des trois frontières.
Créée en 2020, la force Takouba est une force européenne qui rassemble plusieurs soldats d'élite des pays de l'union Européenne. Sa mission est d'appuyer les troupes maliennes dans leur lutte contre le terroriste. La force Takuba au Mali compte plus de 2500 soldats dans le pays et est sous le commandement de la France.
